Cycle to Farm Sandy Mush
"Cycle to Farm® is a popular series of organized group rides that encourage and promote local food, local farms and agritourism by bicycle in the South.
In 2016, the experience will be offered for the 3rd time in Sandy Mush, NC, and in Asheville for the first time. The Asheville ride will start and finish from long-time sponsor New Belgium Brewing's new tasting room in West Asheville. The route will use most of the Sandy Mush route from years past.
Cyclists experience a beautiful (but challenging) metric century route, enjoy tasty food samples at "Farm Stops" hosted by local farms, and purchase products at each Farm.
Traditional cyclist food, such as bananas, PB&J sandwiches, nuts, and cookies, is served at each Farm Stop
Cycle to Farm staff collect the purchases and transport them by vehicle back to the Start/Finish, where riders return for a farm-to-table meal with the community at the Fabulous After Party.
Cycle to Farm is a fundraiser for non-profit partners who support the construction and maintenance of greenways in WNC. Black Mountain Parks & Greenways and Friends of Connect Buncombe receive a portion of the net profit of the events.
We also view the involvement of volunteers and sponsors as an opportunity to build community among foodies, athletes, and local farmers. We encourage them all to join us at the Fabulous After Party.
We have a deep commitment to local farms, and wants to support an event that brings cyclists directly to the farms."
